EqEL operates in a field in which many other organisations are active or partly active. EqEL is affiliated and upholds a close working relationship with some of these organisations. However, many of these organisations are of a more scientific nature occupied with theoretical research and preparing official documents and guidelines on sustainable or responsible tourism. In that case EqEL follows interesting developments in their respective fields of research and advice, incorporating any relevant new idea or development into its own concept.

Following we list some organisations EqEL is affiliated to and certain interesting organisations active in the field of responsible tourism and/or integrated sustainable development.

Affiliated organisations

Green Mind Foundation (GMF)

The Green Mind Foundation (GMF) focuses on arranging the required financial means to support and (further) develop sustainable tourism activities, including the development of accommodation, but is itself not directly active in this field. GMF has a preferred relationship with EqEL.

Societe Equated EcoLodgic Senegal - S.A.R.L. (SEELS)

The Societe Equated EcoLodgic Senegal (SEELS) is an affiliated company of EqEL aiming at the construction of 28 luxurious villas at the edge of the Sine-Saloum delta in Senegal, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. SEELS aims at the full participation of local people, creating jobopportunities and improvement of local livelihood. Additionally, SEELS focuses on improving the natural environment through solid waste management and afforestation activities.

The International Ecotourism Society (TIES)

The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) promotes responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people by creating an international network of individuals, institutions and the tourism industry; educating tourists and tourism professionals; and influencing the tourism industry, public institutions and donors to integrate the principles of ecotourism into their operations and policies

ODI - Overseas Development Institute

The Overseas Development Institute (ODI) is Britain's leading independent think tank on international development and humanitarian issues. It aims to inspire and inform policy and practice leading to the reduction of poverty, the alleviation of suffering and the achievement of sustainable livelihoods in developing countries. Highquality applied research, practical policy advice, and policy-focused dissemination and debate are locked together.

World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) is a global association providing an exclusive platform for companies to explore sustainable development, share knowledge, experiences and best practices, and to advocate business positions on these issues in a variety of forums, working with governments, non-governmental and intergovernmental organizations.
